Horse Camp combines safety training, positive teaching skills, and team building, with great
horsemanship. Our goal is to develop competent horse people and to build life skills such as confidence, dedication, responsibility, goal-setting achievement, and a myriad of learning opportunities that empower kids to become great people.

Camp Size is small and our lessons are individualized for students so they get the most out of their instruction time as possible. For this reason, our camps do fill up so get your deposit and registration in as soon as possible to secure the dates you need.

Please be aware, we get dirty. This is an active camp and it is very experiential. We paint things, and horses; they need lunch and water, extra clothes, swim suits, boots, tennis shoes, and stretchy cotton pants. Rubber boots are helpful if you have them.

Our camps are for the all levels of riders and we work hard to make sure each camp furthers our rider's abilities. Our instructor, Jennifer Buck presents the most unique horsemanship camp in the St. Louis area. Riding, vaulting, horse handling, learning to walk, talk, and breathe horse. It's what we love to share and mentor with our students.

Horse time: We ride daily, working on position, riding skills and safety. We also do lots of hands-on groundwork activities with horses throughout the day. From leading through obstacles, to braiding, taking vital signs, emergency and support leg wraps, lunging, basic training principles, and for more advanced students, some trick training, show rules, jump course design, pas de deux or freestyle practice, etc. We play riding games like musical hoops, relays, obstacle courses, barrel racing patterns, or water gun jousting. More advanced riders work on dressage, jumping, no stirrup work and field work.

We practice beginning vaulting to work on safety skills, balance, teamwork, and overall confidence on horseback. Every day is different. We may groom, braid, paint the horses (Indian horses, zebras, polka-dotted ponies, or all the horse parts) learn parts of the horse and hoof, facial markings, lead through obstacle courses, learn horse first aid, make horse treats and horse popsicles, do horse-knowledge scavenger hunts, tie die t-shirts, hats, or headbands, paint a horseshoe to take home, and do all kinds of activities.

Advanced campers may learn to show braid, pull manes, clip, set courses, load horses, ground drive and lunge, etc.

Criteria: We love to have students of all levels. For camp settings, Students must be able to function independently in a group setting in an engaged manner so as to participate safely in activities and while handling horses so as not to endanger themselves, the horses, or others. This is an open group setting and any student who is not able to function independently will not be a safe participant.

Beginners are always welcome!

Bring to camp: lunch, boots with a heel, spare clothes, a towel, bathing suit (for water sports), tennis shoes, and water bottle.
